Idrisid: silver dirham, Warzigha mint, AH 286 (899-900 CE). Citing 'Ali, 'Isa, and Idris. Reverse margin reference to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib "'ali akhyar al-nas ba'd al-nabi kariha man karih wa radia man radi" ('Ali is the best of people after the Prophet. Whoever dislikes it, dislikes it, and whoever is pleased with it, is pleased). "muhammad khatim al-nabiyin sadiq" (Muhammad, seal of the prophets, the truthful) in reverse field; below it five-pointed star. The religious affiliation of the Idrisids remains a matter of dispute, with scholars variously describing them as Sunni or as holding a proto-Shi'a, 'Alid identity. The inscription on this dirham clearly reflects a preference for 'Ali among the companions of the Prophet. Album 426 (for type). NGC XF Details -Environmental Damage. Extremely rare.
